Westpac PayWay Payments Magento 2
Westpac PayWay Payments Magento 2 Extension provides full integration with the PayWay payment platform used by Westpac Banking Corporation and St.George Bank in Australia. It supports all PayWay integration methods, including both legacy systems and modern replacement technologies.
PayWay currently operates with four integration methods: PayWay API Classic and PayWay Net (legacy), along with their modern replacements PayWay REST API and PayWay Trusted Frame. All four methods are still maintained by PayWay to support different merchant environments and migration paths.
Understanding PayWay Integration Architecture
PayWay has evolved over time to support both traditional and modern payment architectures. This ensures backward compatibility while gradually introducing more secure and flexible technologies for Magento 2 merchants.
Legacy PayWay Integrations
PayWay API Classic
PayWay API Classic is the original server-to-server integration method. It allows Magento 2 to process payments directly through PayWay using traditional API requests. This method is still supported for existing merchants but is gradually being replaced by REST API.
PayWay Net
PayWay Net is a hosted payment page solution where customers are redirected to a PayWay secure checkout page to complete payment. It reduces PCI compliance requirements and is widely used in legacy implementations.
Modern PayWay Integrations
PayWay REST API (Modern Replacement for API Classic)
PayWay REST API is the modern evolution of PayWay API Classic. It provides a more secure, structured, and scalable API architecture designed for modern eCommerce platforms like Magento 2.
PayWay Trusted Frame (Modern Replacement for PayWay Net)
Trusted Frame is the modern embedded checkout solution replacing PayWay Net. It allows customers to enter card details inside a secure PayWay-hosted iframe, keeping sensitive data off Magento servers while maintaining a seamless checkout experience.
Why PayWay Supports Both Legacy and Modern Systems
